5 simple ways to make your hamster's life even better

No judgment here. These are small, doable ideas you can try at your own pace.

1. Add more bedding

Deep bedding lets hamsters dig and burrow, which is natural for them. Many experienced keepers suggest around 6 inches (15 cm) or more.

2. Check the wheel size

A comfortable, straight-backed run is the goal. See our wheel guide.

3. Give more floor space

Hamsters are walkers and diggers, not climbers, so floor space matters more than height. Our space guide explains what to aim for.

4. Hide food to forage

Scatter part of the food so they can search, just like in nature.

5. Offer a cozy hideout

A snug place to sleep helps hamsters feel secure, especially since they sleep much of the day.
